TeleCayman offers phone services1 December 2004

Residents of Grand Cayman have been watching with interest as several telecom carriers have been building networks with the aim to offer a full voice, data and internet service to Grand Cayman. Each have suffered delays to their launches but today TeleCayman announced that they are now ready to offer their full range of services including voice, data and internet products.

Despite damage sustained to Savannah and West Bay towers that delayed their full launch, TeleCayman has already been offering internet services to the corporate community within the Seven Mile Beach, George Town, Industrial Park and South Sound areas. The TeleCayman teams are working around the clock to restore coverage to the remainder of the island but shipping delays are slowing the arrival of essential equipment.

Gilbert Chalifoux, SVP of Technical Operations commented “We are proud to be the first alternative provider of land lines, in the history of the Cayman Islands and are dedicated to ensuring that our customers receive the exceptional quality of product and service levels that they expect and deserve.

Our top priority was to get our land line phones connected. Now that is complete, we are focusing on broadening our reach to include residents and the extension of coverage to the remainder of Grand Cayman.”

The TeleCayman release states that they are confident that they will be able to roll out services to residents by the end of January.

Any businesses requiring internet service within the Seven Mile Beach, George Town or South Sound areas are invited to contact the offices of TeleCayman Limited on 769-1000.
